Euro 2008: Ronny on target

Euro 2008: Ronny on targetA host of United stars were in action for their respective nations on Wednesday evening. The majority took part in friendlies, but others were in Euro 2008 qualifying action...

Cristiano Ronaldo scored a superb, jinking equaliser for Portugal in their Euro 2008 qualifier against Armenia, but couldn't summon a winner for his side, who trail Group A leaders Poland by four points.

Nemanja Vidic was booked in Serbia's entertaining 3-2 Euro 2008 qualifying defeat to Belgium. His side now sit fourth in Group A, a point behind Cristiano Ronaldo's Portugal.

Republic of Ireland debutant Darron Gibson laid on his side's third goal in a thumping 4-0 friendly away win over Denmark. John O'Shea also completed 90 minutes for Steve Staunton's side.

Rio Ferdinand was replaced by Reds team-mate Wes Brown at half-time in England's 2-1 friendly defeat to Germany, while Michael Carrick completed 55 minutes for Steve McClaren's side, who lost despite taking an early lead through Frank Lampard.

Darren Fletcher superbly set up Kris Boyd for the only goal of the game in Scotland's 1-0 friendly win over South Africa at Hampden Park.

Patrice Evra completed 90 minutes for France in their friendly win in Slovakia. Barcelona striker Thierry Henry scored the only goal of the game with a first-half free kick.
