Anelka: My heart is with Bolton

Nicolas Anelka has ended speculation linking him with United, by signing a new, improved contract with Bolton Wanderers.

The French striker has been strongly linked with a move away from the Reebok Stadium all summer, with United tipped to be among the frontrunners for his signature.

But the 28-year-old has extended his deal with Sammy Lee's side until the end of the 2010/11 season, ending talk of a move to Old Trafford.

"I seem to have been linked with every club in the country of late, but my heart is with Bolton," Anelka told the official Bolton website.

"I am very happy with my form, the Club and the manager so signing a new contract was not a difficult decision. Hopefully we will prosper together because I would not have remained at Bolton if I'd thought we could not win trophies."

Anelka is one of several recurring names linked with a move to Old Trafford following Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's retirement, and the sale of Guiseppe Rossi and Alan Smith.

The Reds will have to move quickly, however, if they are to bolster their attacking department, with the transfer window closing at midnight on Friday.
